Welcome
ILSA seeks to foster a community and serve the social, religious,
and intellectual needs of the Muslim students at the New York University
School of Law. We also intend to provide a much needed forum open
to all students, staff, and faculty of NYU School of Law designed
to encourage free dialogue and debate on any number of issues relating
to Islamic law, society and the politics concerning the U.S. and
the Muslim world.
We throw a number of social events throughout the year, including
our annual Eid Banquet, and also host informative talks and meetings.
In the fall, the second and third year students run a mentoring
program to establish a support system for the incoming law students.
The Islamic Law Students Association also promotes social activism
around campus and New York City, working with various NGOs in New
York and with other student groups at NYU School of Law.
For the upcoming year, we plan to launch an annual symposium exploring
relevant issues of interest to ILSA's membership and also hope to
reach out and host joint events with the Muslim student groups at
New York's other law schools.
Please feel free to contact us if you're interested in our organization
or would like to join our mailing list. The members of ILSA feel
strongly about making everyone feel welcome, whatever religious
background they may come from.
