Fellowships

The NCPL has established two Fellowship Programs: Rockefeller Brothers Fund Fellowship in Nonprofit Law at the Vera Institute of Justice and NCPL Fellowship in Nonprofit Law at NYU's Office of Legal Counsel. These Fellowship programs provide law school graduates with exposure to an unusually wide variety of legal and organizational issues encountered by nonprofit organizations.

Since 1997, the NCPL has administered the Rockefeller Brothers Fund Fellowship in Nonprofit Law that places one Fellow annually at the General Counsel’s Office at the Vera Institute of Justice (the RBF Fellowship). In 2002, the NCPL began administering the National Center on Philanthropy and the Law Fellowship in Nonprofit Law, which permits one Fellow annually to work at the Office of Legal Counsel at New York University (the NCPL Fellowship). The RBF and NCPL Fellowships already have attracted the attention of the most impressive graduates from the nation’s premiere law schools, serving as a defining introduction to the work of both of the sponsoring organizations for which the fellowships are named and the nonprofit organizations where the Fellows are placed.
