Mission

The Journal of Law & Business ("JLB") is one of NYU Law's newest and most innovative academic journals, providing a forum for dialogue and analysis of current issues, ideas, and problems at the intersection of two dynamic fields: law and business. The journal aims to contribute to academic scholarship, as well as the professional development of its readership, through the publication of pieces by both academics and practitioners. The journal explores a number of general areas, including: bankruptcy and restructuring; capital markets and securities; corporate law and governance; foreign and international business law; hedge funds and private equity; and tax.

Each year the journal also holds a symposium on a contemporary topic that highlights the interrelationship of law and business; this year, the journal will host a symposium on the current financial crisis, focusing on recent bailouts of U.S. financial giants by the federal government and the overhaul of the financial regulatory system.

This journal was founded to give our members opportunities above and beyond those available at other journals. Our practical approach to legal writing and greater contact with practicing attorneys offer ways to prepare for leadership roles during and after law school. We invite legal and business professionals to contribute to the journal's develpment by submitting an article or practitioner note, by making a panel presentation at a JLB sponsored event, or by contacting the journal with suggestions about how to improve our mission.
